Dr. Ryan Martineau grew up in Valley Center with a love for outdoors, sports, and family. He enjoyed playing soccer, riding motorcycles in the desert, raising pigs for his local 4-H club, and attending Valley Center High School. Throughout high school, he battled many sports injuries which fostered his interest in physical therapy.
In 2015, he graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from California State University, San Marcos. The following summer, Ryan started PT school at Western University of Health Sciences. During this time, he overcame an ACL injury and surgery, and now takes particular pride in ACL injury prevention and post-injury rehabilitation.
In 2018, Ryan received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and has been working with orthopedic injuries and sports performance since then. He also had unique exposure to neurological rehab at Sharp Memorial Hospital, caring for patients with spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Kimi Takaoka-Martineau grew up in Arcadia, CA with a very close knit family who instilled values of humility and hard work. She started sports at the age of 4, focusing mainly golf and basketball. She played golf through high school, winning the team league championship and moving onto individual CIF semi-finals. She continued to play basketball at Chapman University, where she had several personal and team accolades, and finished among the top 3 scorers in school history.
Kimi also grew up with a desire to help others and always had an interest in healthcare. Originally, she aspired to be an athletic trainer for a sports team. In fact, she graduated from Chapman with her Bachelor’s degree and certification in Athletic Training. However, along her journey, she found physical therapy to be a bigger passion with a wider scope of practice and the unique ability to reach people of all ages, abilities, and injuries. She graduated from Western University of Health Sciences with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2018 and has been working at sports and orthopedic clinics since then.
Kimi enjoys working with people of all ages and activity levels, but has a particular passion for golf performance, return to sport rehab, and chronic pain management.
